SUMMER INTENSIVES

Exciting workshops designed for students of dance

JUNIOR WORKSHOP • JULY 9 - 13, 2018     Primary - Grade 2

This is an exciting one week program designed for the younger student. These students will also dramatically improve technique as well as gain confidence in their performing ability. For students who are currently enrolled in Primary through Grade 2.

CURRICULUM

Ballet

Students will take a ballet technique class each day that will introduce them to the work required at the next grade level. They will also learn a very enjoyable dance, which they will perform on parent night.

Jazz

Classic jazz technique as well as current jazz styles will be taught to Grade 1 and Grade 2 students.

Modern

Classes will emphasize modern technique.

Character

Students will be introduced to Russian, Hungarian and Ukrainian styles.  This is a much-loved class by all of our younger students!

Culmination Performance

Parents are invited to attend a very enjoyable program at the end of the session.

FACULTY

Danica Primo

Danica brings to our school an extensive dance background. She trained at the Boston Ballet School, Marin Ballet and the West Coast Conservatory of Ballet. She performed with the Portland Ballet Company, Marin Ballet in San Rafael, California, and Ballet Unlimited in Orange, California. She is a member and registered teacher of the Royal Academy of Dance, London. She has been on the teaching staff at SCB for the past 20 years.

 

Pamela Sosa

Pamela is an Advanced Member and registered teacher of the Royal Academy of Dance, London. She was a member of the Kern Classical Ballet Company. While with KCBC, she performed roles including the Ballerina in The Steadfast Tin Soldier, Tigerlily and the Caterpillar in Alice in Wonderland, and the Autumn Fairy in Cinderella. She also performed the lead Mirliton as a guest artist with Santa Barbara Festival Ballet. She has been on the teaching staff at SCB for the past 14 years.

Miki Amen
Miki graduated with Honors while majoring in Dance and Choreography at the University of California, Riverside with a Chancellor’s Performance Scholarship in Dance. Miki toured for two years, traveling around the United States, with the live stage shows “Sesame Street Live” and “Dragon Tales Live” under VEE Corporation. She is also a member of the Taiko Center of Los Angeles, a Japanese drumming ensemble, and with TCLA, has united tap and taiko at such venues as the Ford Theatre, and the Japan American Theatre. Some of Miki’s  lm and television credits include: “187” starring Samuel L. Jackson, “Gilmore Girls”, “Seventh Heaven”, and the “O.C.” She has been on the teaching sta  at SCB since 2008.

DRESS REQUIREMENTS

Girls: Plain leotards, pink tights, pink soft shoes, pointe shoes, jazz shoes, character shoes and skirts.

Boys: Plain t-shirts, black tights, black soft shoes, jazz shoes.
